Caring for the DEUS™ Controlled Descent Devices
Product Care
DEUS Controlled Descent Devices (DEUS 3100 & DEUS 3300) are designed to provide about 100 descents before
servicing. But, because every descent is different, and some descents punish
equipment more than others, DEUS Controlled Descent Devices should be inspected after
every descent. For factory reconditioning services, contact DEUS Rescue toll free
at 866-405-3461 or send an email to service@DEUSrescue.com.
Factory reconditioning includes replacement of worn parts, a complete inspection,
and test of the device. Do not trust your life - or the lives of others - to
equipment that has not been properly maintained.
DEUS Controlled Descent Devices are designed to be used only
with DEUS™ ropes. Do
not attempt to use any other rope with the DEUS 3100 or the DEUS 3300. Use of any other rope can result in injury
or death.
Maintenance for Safe Operation
Using a DEUS Controlled Descent Device in an emergency exposes the device to extreme
conditions. Therefore, it is important that you check the unit for damage or
wear after every descent,
whether in emergency use or in training. Follow these simple steps to ensure
safe operation:
1. Remove the rope and check the rope-guide
surfaces for burs and nicks.
2. Check that the control knob turns freely between "engaged" and "disengaged."
3. Check that the rear cover plate opens and closes freely.
4. Turn the control knob to the "disengaged" position and check
that the brake wheel spins freely.
5. Turn the control knob to the "engaged" position and check that
the brake wheel does not spin at all.
Remember to do this after every descent.
If ANYTHING about the device does not look right
or does not work correctly, contact DEUS Rescue immediately for service and place the unit in "inactive" status
until it has been rectified.
