Can I use any kind of rope with DEUS vertical rescue systems? No, DEUS vertical rescue systems are designed to be used ONLY with DEUS ropes. These ropes are specially constructed to positively engage the internal centrifugal brake of the devices. Use of any other rope can lead to injury or death. DEUS Training and FireBrite ropes are made by Sterling Rope, a leader in technical and rescue rope. Use only DEUS rope with a DEUS vertical rescue system.

What length rope can be used with DEUS vertical rescue systems? DEUS vertical rescue systems use only DEUS ropes. Standard rope is available in 50 ft, 75 ft and 100 ft lengths and can be ordered from DEUS Rescue. Custom rope lengths are available, too. The DEUS 3100 has been tested extensively up to 100 ft descents. The DEUS 3300 up to heights of 300 ft.

What ropes can be used with the DEUS 3100? DEUS Rescue certifies the DEUS 3100 for use exclusively with DEUS 7.5mm FireBrite and Training ropes. These two NFPA-rated ropes, developed with Sterling Rope, have been designed with the right coefficient of friction, the right bending stiffness and the right compressibility to work with all four redundant breaking systems in the DEUS 3100. We recommend using economical DEUS 7.5mm Training Rope for training only. DEUS 7.5mm FireBrite Rope is for use only in emergency situations. Emergencies by their very nature subject rope to severe stress and insult . . . high temperature, abrasion, cuts, chemicals and shock load. Whenever a rope is used in an emergency and subjected to severe stress or insult, it should be cut up and retired from service because it is not possible to inspect rope for internal damage.

Why can’t other manufacturers’ rope be used with DEUS vertical rescue systems? DEUS ropes have been specially developed to positively engage the braking surfaces and centrifugal brakes in DEUS vertical rescue systems – no other rope is certified to perform in this manner.
